This 1/4 watermelon was 750yen. It’s expensive, but nowadays that’s just average price for this size, I guess. If I were there with my bicycle, I could have bought this. It looked really good and sweet:)

I understand some people mention Japanese square shaped watermelons, but they are generally only for display. So expensive, that few people want it. Shop owners know that but still buy one for their shops in order to entertain their customers’ eyes:)
fruit in japan is generally more expensive than in america. we normally pay less than a dollar per lb for fruit but that’s not the case if you’re in japan.
that watermelon could run up to $20-30 if i’m not mistaken.
